Whether you’re looking for a new pressure cooker or want to upgrade your current one, you might be weighing your options with the Instant Brand pressure cookers. They offer so many and it can be hard to know which is right. Today we’re going to compare two of their top offerings in our Instant Pot Pro vs Duo Evo Plus review. Pro is the newest model, but Duo Evo Plus is among one of their strongest models.
Our Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus vs Pro review will take a look at what these multicookers are, what others are saying about them, their appliances, smart programs and presets, and any other differences we can find.
Let’s dive deep and see which deserves a place in your kitchen.
What is the Instant Pot Pro?
The Pro pressure cooker is the newest Instant Pot pressure cooker and easily one of their best offerings to date. This model consolidates everything great about previous models and puts them into one single unit. You get amazing features like handles for the inner cooking pot, EasySeal lid that automatically seals the lid, the easiest steam release ever, and much more.
Not only that, but it also offers the most advanced microprocessor and heats up 20% faster than other models. This allows you to cook faster and more accurately.
If you want the best Instant Pot pressure cooker, then Pro definitely fits the bill.
What is Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus?
This is one of the most advanced Insta Pot pressure cookers because it includes a tremendous number of presets along with many features and appliances. Duo Evo Plus is for true foodies that want to make many different recipes with the best flavor. It is also highly customizable and puts you in control when cooking.
While not as new as Pro, this has many of the best features offered by this brand and it’s very powerful. There’s a reason it’s one of their top models.
What Others are Saying
We’re going to dive into our review soon, but it’s good to see what others are saying to see if everyday users have the same experience we are. Let’s take a look at customer reviews to see how these stack up with common home cooks who are making meals for their families.
Instant Pot Pro Customer Reviews
The Instant Pot Pro customer reviews number over 2K and have an overall rating of 4.7 on Amazon. The majority of reviews talk about how this is one of the best models offered and that it’s so fast and simple to use. Not only is it stronger than many previous models, but it’s also easy for new and returning customers to use.
Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus Customer Reviews
How do the Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus Amazon reviews compare? This model has been around longer, so it has amassed nearly 19K reviews to date with a rating of 4.8. Many reviews say how they love the presets and how much control they have when cooking. They also focus on how versatile and strong this pressure cooker is, making it ideal for a wide range of meals.
You’re not just buying a pressure cooker when you buy an Instant Pot. You’re getting close to a dozen appliances all in one, which makes these great buys and they conserve lots of space (why store a pressure cooker, steamer, slow cooker, etc when they can all be one unit?).
While each model offers many appliances, you’ll also find that there are small differences here and there between them. The Pro 10-in-1 and Duo Evo Plus 10-in-1 both have the same number of appliances, but let’s see what you’re actually getting.
The appliances you get are:
|Appliances||Instant Pot Pro||Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus|
They are nearly neck and neck, but there are two fairly significant differences between them. Pro offers a sterilizer while Duo Evo Plus has a stock pot feature. Some appliances are fairly easy to replicate with manual features, but these two are a little tough to replicate. It’s possible, but not as easy as replicating the cake maker or egg cooker features.
The sterilizer is best for parents and those who love canning. It allows you to sterilize glass bottles and other vessels to ensure they are clean and free from germs. The stock pot features from Duo Evo Plus is great for cooking down veggies, bones, and other ingredients until they are a tasty stock.
We think more people would prefer the sterilizer from Pro, and the stock ppt is a little easier to replicate with manual features. It’s nearly a tie, but Pro is just a little better here.
Instant Duo Evo Plus vs Pot Pro: Smart Programs
This is an odd category. Most Instant Pots use a microprocessor that can take control when you use a smart program. These are programs that make it simple to cook meat, veggies, fruit, cakes, and many other meals. While both of these have a microprocessor (basically every model has one), one uses it more than the other.
Pro has 28 smart programs, which allows you to easily make nearly any meal that you can think of. Not only is this microprocessor one of the newest and smartest of the bunch, but another handy feature is that you can favorite five programs. This makes it so much easier to access them rather than going through the long list whenever you want to cook.
Duo Evo Plus doesn’t have smart programs, but it does have presets. These use the microprocessor less, but they give you more control over the meal as you are given more freedom to customize the cooking. This might be good for hands-on chefs who know exactly what they want, but the Pro’s smart programs are easier for those who want to set it and forget it.
We consider this a tie. Both are amazing in their own right, so it depends on what you want. If you want delicious meals cooked for you with little effort or thought (and who doesn’t? That sounds amazing!), then Pro is better. If you want more control over the cooking process and you know what you want, then Duo Evo Plus is better.
Instant Pot Pro vs Duo Evo Plus: Sizes
You always want to pick the best size for your pressure cooker. Getting one that’s too big means that you have a large appliance that you can’t make full use of, but getting a small one means you may need to cook in batches.
What’s the best multicooker size? That’s dependent on how much you want to cook and how many people you’re cooking for. The two most popular sizes are a 6 quart multicooker and 8 quart multicooker.
You’ll find that the 6 quart size is good enough for small to medium families, and it’s ideal for those who want to meal prep without having too big an appliance. The 8 quart size is better for larger families and those who like to host parties or cook for others.
So, which sizes are available with these two models? Let’s take a look.
Instant Pot Pro Sizes
- Instant Pot Pro 6qt
- Instant Pot Pro 8qt
Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus Sizes
- Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus 6qt
- Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus 8qt
As you can see, they are tied here. Not only do they offer the same number of options, but they both have the two most popular sizes. It’s another tie, so let’s end with any other differences that we can find.
What’s the Difference Between Instant Pot Pro and Duo Evo Plus?
Curious about what’s the difference between Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus and Pro? While it’s been a tie in most areas, there are a number of differences that we were able to pinpoint.
You can see how Pro stacks up against the other Instant Pot models in these reviews:
- Instant Pot Pro vs Ultra (Which Pressure Cooker is Best for Home Cooks?)
- Instant Pot Pro vs Duo (Newest Pressure Cooker or Reliable Flagship?)
- Instant Pot Pro vs Duo Plus (Why Pro is the Best for Parents)
- Instant Pot Pro vs Pro Plus (Is a Wireless Pressure Cooker Worth It?)
- Instant Pot Pro vs Duo Evo Plus (Is the Newest Instant Pot Worth It?)
First up is the appliances. While they were similar, Pro offers a sterilizer while Duo Evo Plus has a stock pot. Both are good, but we think more people would prefer the Pro here. They both have a large number of programs, but Pro allows you to favorite some programs and it does more of the work for you while Duo Evo Plus has more presets and gives you more control.
We also have to consider the technology being used. Pro is the newest model and features the newest microprocessor, it heats up 20% faster, and has cutting-edge safety features that Duo Evo Plus lacks.
While the 48 presets is amazing, we found that Pro is simply the better buy.
Both of these are similar, but we found that Pro is the better model of the two. It makes it easier to cook, has more safety features, the appliances are somewhat better, and it’s just an amazing experience the whole way around. We think you’ll be happy with either pressure cooker, but that Pro would be better overall for you.
