The Keurig K-Duo and K-Duo Plus are unique in that they are specifically for carafe brewing. You can still do single-cup brewing like with any other Keurig coffee maker, but now you can make more coffee than ever while still enjoying the convenience and taste you’re accustomed to. In this review, we’ll be putting Keurig K-Duo vs Keurig K-Duo Plus. This will help you find the best Keurig K-Duo model for your needs.

This is a fairly new series of coffee makers and we expect there to be more in the future. However, these are the only two models right now. If you love coffee and convenience, then these models might be exactly what you’re looking for. If you’re looking more for a personal espresso maker, then the AeroPress might be more your speed.

What is the Keurig K-Duo?

Both the K-Duo and K-Duo Plus models are meant for either single-cup or carafe brewing. This virtually combines a conventional coffee maker that makes pots or carafes with the single-cup convenience Keurig is known for.

This means you can easily brew for yourself or the whole family, office, or any other small group. We’ll discuss the differences between the two models later, but both are able to brew single cups or carafes. They can also take coffee pods or ground coffee, which is unlike many other Keurig models.

We just did a review of the best single-serve coffee makers if you’re interested.

Features

  • Glass carafe
  • Brews 6, 8, 10, or 12 cups or ounces
  • Hot plate for warming your drink
  • Measurements: 12.92” H x 10.94” W x12.76” D

Keurig K-Duo Plus Review

Keurig K-Duo Plus

The K-Duo Plus comes with a stainless steel carafe that holds its temperature for at least two hours, giving you plenty of time to enjoy your favorite coffee. You can brew 6, 8, 10, or 12 cups or ounces depending on your selection, and it has a 60oz removable water reservoir. You can choose between either coffee pods or ground coffee, both work just fine.

The strong brew function allows the coffee steep just a little longer, ensuring your cup is full of coffee flavor. There are auto-brew options so that you have coffee ready when you need it. This model is also quite slim, making it easy to place anywhere.

This model is so good, we decided to add it to our list of the best coffee makers.

Features

  • Stainless steel carafe
  • Brews 6, 8, 10, 12 cups or ounces
  • Much slimmer and easy to fit anywhere
  • Measurements: 14.19” H x 8.2” W x 11.7” D

Keurig K-Duo Vs Keurig K-Duo Plus

Unless you read that carefully, both the K-Duo and K-Duo Plus look very similar. The differences are slight, but they make a world of difference. First is the carafe. Both have a carafe that holds up to 12 cups of coffee. The K-Duo has a glass carafe while the Plus has a stainless steel one.

Glass is OK, but stainless steel is much better. Stainless steel is more durable and it will keep coffee hot for two hours.

Next is size. Usually it’s the better model that’s bigger, but the opposite is true here. The K-Duo is about 2.5 inches wider than the Plus. However, outside of one feature, the two are basically identical. This means the Plus can fit anywhere and you can still brew carafes and cups with ease.

One of the biggest differences is the hot plate. This only comes with the K-Duo. The hot plate is nice, but it takes forever to warm coffee and you probably don’t want to stand around your Keurig for minutes and minutes waiting for a hot cup.

It seems strange that the Plus lacks this feature, but it makes sense. What you get in return is a stainless steel carafe and a slim model that can fit in tight spaces.

Pros

  • Brews either cups (in the carafe) or a single mug
  • Use either pods or ground coffee
  • Strong brew option for stronger coffee
  • Large brewing sizes, but the streamlined convenience of Keurig

Cons

  • Glass carafe can break if it falls
  • Despite using a carafe, you cannot use K-Carafe pods

Both models brew 6, 8, 10, or 12 cups or ounces of coffee (or tea, hot chocolate, or any other hot drink, your choice!). Switching between cups and ounces is simple and can be done from the control panel.

Final Thoughts

When it comes to Keurig K-Duo Vs Keurig K-Duo Plus, our K-Duo review found a lot of similarities. They both brew the same size, take pods and ground coffee, are incredibly fast, have a strong brewing option, and a removable 60oz water reservoir.

While the differences are slight, they make a big difference. The K-Duo is best if you want a more affordable model or like having a hot plate. The K-Duo Plus is better if you want a slim model with a stainless steel carafe.

Regardless of which you choose, you’ll get a strong cup of coffee that is perfect for you or a whole group. If you love Keurig and want to expand that to bigger pots, then the K-Duo line is worth buying.
