Whether it’s hot outside or you just need something sweet, ice cream hits the spot every time. Buying your own ice cream is easy, but it limits you to certain flavors, plus it gets really expensive after a while. Having your own ice cream machine lets you make unique flavors at a fraction of the cost. Today our Ninja Creami vs Kitchenaid review will show you which of these is best for your home ice cream needs.
Our Kitchenaid vs Ninja Creami review will compare these based on features, settings, capacity, freezing type, and any other differences we find.
For those who have a Kitchenaid blender already, this might be the better of the two due to the large capacity and relatively lower cost. However, we think Ninja Creami has better overall features, and it’s a standalone unit that doesn’t require extra purchases.
Features
The first thing to look at is features. Every ice cream maker has different features and you need to ensure you’re getting one that matches your needs. While we’ll break these features down in other sections, think of this as an overview of what you’re getting with each unit.
Ninja Creami Features
Creami Ninja ice cream maker offers a ton of features despite its relatively compact size. It comes with personal pint containers, which ensures that everyone gets their own flavor. Simply load the container, freeze the ingredients, and then choose what type of frozen treat you want.
This comes with seven settings for gelato, ice cream, sorbet, and much more. You’ll have no problem getting the exact temperature you want. Plus, this comes with Creamify technology. This ensures a smoother blending of ice crystals so your ice cream has unparalleled softness.
All parts are dishwasher safe, and you’ll love how quickly this makes ice cream. You can also load nearly any ingredient in the container, so feel free to add chocolate and cream, frozen fruit, or anything else you can think of.
Kitchenaid Ice Cream Maker Features
Kitchenaid ice cream attachment is a large, 2 qt ice cream maker that allows you to churn nearly any ingredients you can think of to make big batches of ice cream. While it does require you to have a Kitchenaid stand mixer, the benefit of that is that you can take advantage of the powerful motor.
Another benefit is that this is an affordable ice cream machine, but only if you already have a stand mixer. The freezer bowl was designed to stay cool for a very long time, and you’ll have no problem freezing ingredients or adding them to be churned.
This fits most Tilt-Head and Bowl-Lift models. It won’t fit the KSM3316, KSM3317, K5SS, KSM5, KSM50, KSM500, or KSM450. If you have one of these, then unfortunately you can’t use this attachment. Keep this in mind as you don’t want to buy an attachment you can’t use.

Kitchenaid vs Ninja Creami: Settings
If you like controlling the texture of your ice cream and making different frozen treats, then you’ll want settings to choose from. The more settings you have, the more control you have over how the ice cream will turn out.
Ninja Creami makes milkshakes, sorbets, gelatos, ice cream, lite ice cream, and smoothies. It also has an extra mix-in feature that doesn’t churn the ingredients, but rather mixes in chocolate chips, cookie crumbles, sprinkles, and anything else you want to add to your ice cream. That means you get a total of 7 one-touch features that are easy to use.
Kitchenaid ice cream maker technically doesn’t have any settings. It’s just a bowl that attaches to your stand mixer. That being said, you can control the texture of your ice cream by changing the speed and either increasing or decreasing churning time. This requires more manual work and effort, but you can get the perfect gelato, ice cream, and more with some practice.
The ice cream maker for Kitchenaid might technically have more settings because most of them have numerous speed settings, but we feel that Creami gets the win here. It has very specific settings for gelato, milkshake, ice cream and more. Plus, there’s no guesswork and no worries about underchurning or overchurning.
Ninja Creami vs Kitchenaid Ice Cream: Capacity
This is another difficult section to judge as it really depends on what you’re looking for. Creami offers less space, but the personal containers are very appealing. At the same time, Kitchenaid is quite large, but you’re stuck with one flavor.
The default Ninja Creami comes with two 1 pint, or 16 oz each, containers. The container is the blending cup as well, so simply place it in the machine and it’ll turn the ingredients into your favorite frozen dessert. This is a good and bad approach depending on your perspective.
While a pint is a good size, some might view it as too small. We honestly preferred this because it allows everyone to have their own container, and each one can hold a different flavor. If you love having variety, then this is perfect.
Kitchen ice cream machine is significantly larger with a 2qt capacity, or 60oz. That’s nearly double what you can make with Creami, and it only takes about 30 minutes to make it. If you like making big batches and only one want flavor at a time, then you’ll love how this turns out.
So, which is better? We think more people will like Creami because of the personal containers, but those who want to make big batches will prefer Kitchenaid.

Ninja Creami vs Kitchenaid: Freezing Type
Ice cream machines either use passive or active freezing. Passive freezing means you chill the ingredients in your freezer and then the machine churns them. Active freezing means the machine both freezes and churns the ingredients. While active is more convenient (and often better), it’s also significantly more expensive.
Both of these use passive freezing because you’re relying on your freezer to chill the ingredients. The good news is that they keep ingredients cool for a long time even after the bowl or container is removed from the freezer, and this is honestly very simple to do.
It’s a little faster for the Creami containers to freeze, but that’s only because they’re so small. We will say the Kitchen bowl is very sturdy and thick, so it has an easier time holding onto the cold and making sure the ingredients are frozen long after leaving the freezer.
What’s the Difference Between Ninja Creami and Kitchenaid?
Curious about what’s the difference between Kitchenaid and Ninja Creami? We found there are a number of differences between them, but that both units are very powerful and great at what they do.
Ninja Creami offers personal pint containers, has more straightforward settings for your ideal frozen treat, and the containers froze quicker. We also loved the creamify technology and we could tell that this was made to give you the softest, tastiest ice cream ever.
Kitchenaid was great. The major caveat is that you must have a Kitchenaid mixer, but it’s actually quite affordable if you have the mixer already. You can make a very large batch of ice cream, and the bowl keeps the ingredients cold for a very long time.
We’d say that the main things to consider is whether you already have a Kitchen stand mixer, if you’d prefer various flavors or one large batch, and how you want the controls to be. Ninja is more straightforward, though you likely get more overall settings with Kitchenaid.
Final Thoughts
So, who wins when it comes to Ninja Creami vs Kitchenaid Ice Cream Maker? We think that Ninja Creami wins overall since it doesn’t require an extra appliance, we like being able to make various flavors with ease, and it was more convenient overall. At the same time, we love the big batches of ice cream we were able to make with Kitchenaid, and this is actually a bargain if you already have the mixer.
